This reconstruction shows the left half of the skull of “Joe” the baby Parasaurolophus. The right and left halves were separated by weathering, and the left is the best preserved. The model here was created from CT scan data, and shows all of the features exactly as they are in the original specimen. Can you find the impressions of the keratinous beak around the region of the bony beak? Hint: look for the subtly ridged area at the front of the skull.
Having trouble viewing the model? This 3D viewer works best on Firefox, Chrome, and Safari (no Internet Explorer, sorry!). Many of the files are viewable as 3D PDFs (via Adobe Acrobat) for download from the journal article at PeerJ, including a 3D pdf of the skull. A table with links to all of the raw data hosted at Figshare (including printable STL files) is available at PeerJ.
